2024 events for screen professionals from 26 - 29 June in Ōtautahi Christchurch.

Doc Edge Industry 2024, a 4-day screen professional event from 26 – 29 June in Ōtautahi Christchurch has now concluded. It was a great platform for screen professionals from New Zealand and abroad to come together to meet, share ideas, network, problem solve, and ultimately to make great content!

Our Pitch event featured 22 finalists from all around the world sharing their incredible stories while the Forum was packed full of change-makers and decision-makers ready to open discussions on the most compelling issues facing us today.

All Doc Edge Industry events was based at the beautiful Christchurch Town Hall near the city centre, packed with great galleries, shops, restaurants, bars, and the already iconic Riverside Market.

Guests & Speakers

Doc Edge brought over 40 local and international filmmakers, leading documentary experts, funders, commissioners, sales agents, distributors, acquisition managers, co-production partners, festival programmers, and marketplace managers and mentors together in Ōtautahi Christchurch, New Zealand.

Headlining our event this year was Ted Hope, Doc Edge Superhero 2024, along with several award-winning filmmakers and industry professionals who bring vast amounts of experience and insight. We were delighted to welcoming them as speakers and facilitators at the Pitch and Forum events.

We deserve a culture predicated on today’s realities, not yesterday’s routine. As an independent-film producer and an avid fan of ambitious and diverse work in all forms—and as a citizen of the world—I am always excited to keep up with the changing times. But nothing has prepared me for the onslaught of the last few years.

PITCH

26-27 June

Doc Edge Pitch – Wayfinding connects local and international decision-makers and filmmakers with a reimagining of the traditional pitching approach. Rather than fostering competition, we’re looking to support every project to get to the next step.

AwARDS

27 June

Doc Edge Awards is an exciting evening celebrating excellence in documentary from local and international filmmakers. The winners of best International films and best NZ films will receive an Oscar® consideration.

FORUM

28-29 June

Doc Edge Forum features keynotes from renowned industry professionals as well as sessions geared towards addressing the current issues affecting our industry.

MARKET

26-29 June

Doc Edge Market is a virtual film market that allows filmmakers to showcase their work to industry professionals including funders and commissioners. In Christchurch, the Market will be accessible at the Town Hall during the Industry Events.

Passes

All industry events were ticketed. We acknowledge that times were uncertain for many in our industry and want to show our support by offering Doc Edge Industry accreditations at half-price. Industry and student concessions were also available.
