Join Doc Edge, the leading Asia Pacific documentary not-for-profit organisation, for an exciting opportunity. We are seeking a film festival enthusiast to be our Ticketing and Customer Service Manager. 

Job Summary: 

As the Doc Edge Ticketing and Customer Service Manager, you will play a key role in providing exceptional customer service and support. Your responsibilities include managing ticketing queries, handling sales using our Ferve ticketing system, and contributing to achieving monthly sales targets. We are looking for someone with ticketing experience, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to our core values. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • End-to-end management of sales pathway using Ferve ticketing system 
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date information in the ticketing system 
  • Drive growth in ticket sales and memberships 
  • Respond to customer inquiries via phone, email, and social media 
  • Create customer journey guides 
  • Provide technical support to customers 
  • Manage corporate and group package initiatives 
  • Develop and implement community outreach strategy

Qualifications: 

  • 2+ years of ticketing, marketing/sales, and customer service experience 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Experience with ticketing software; quick learner of new tool
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Be a NZ citizen/resident or have a valid working visa
  • Passion for documentary films and the arts is a plus

About Doc Edge

Doc Edge is a not-for-profit charitable organization that promotes documentary film and filmmaking, serving as a national hub for the documentary and digital storytelling sectors based in Auckland.  It delivers programmes and events throughout the year including the annual Oscar-qualifying International Documentary Film Festival, Industry and Schools Programmes as well as a year-round on-demand plaftorm

Doc Edge Industry creates opportunities for learning and advancement for emerging and established filmmakers working in the creation and delivery of factual content. It brings together local and international film, TV, and interactive media professionals around a programme of events and networking opportunities through:

  • Doc Edge Forum, an event offering seminars, panels, masterclasses, and networking opportunities.
  • Doc Edge Pitch, a documentary pitching forum for feature films, TV/Web series, and Immersive projects.
  • Doc Edge Market, a marketplace for industry professionals to find NZ and Asia Pacific content.

About the Role: 

Doc Edge is looking for a confident experienced person with excellent writing, digital and communication skills to manage the year-round Doc Edge Industry programmes including the coordination of industry events and the promotions of registrations/memberships. The Industry Manager is expected to represent and advocate Doc Edge at key internal and external events and markets; contribute toward editorial and press assets, act as a spokesperson for Doc Edge on industry matters, as directed.

In addition, develop and articulate the brand and industry identity in the national and international documentary ecosystem, engage with critical business issues, business planning and strategy in a constructive and supportive manner. The Industry Manager will adopt best practice behaviour towards colleagues, act as an ambassador for the charity in all external dealings and commit to and uphold Doc Edge values and Kaupapa.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Work to implement Doc Edge’s objectives and general strategy, to entrench Doc Edge Industry as an important must-attend market which is known for cutting edge and innovative strategy and activities
  • Continue to build and extend Doc Edge’s role as the Asia Pacific leader both nationally and internationally in the documentary and factual landscape
  • Increase local participation by engagement with the wider screen sector
  • Design and deliver the industry programmes. This will include but is not limited to the curation of the programme, speakers and invited professionals, the selection of projects, organisation of events, partners, and collaborations.
  • Participate in international networking, industry platforms and festivals.
  • Work closely with other Doc Edge team members to jointly deliver a cohesive “Life Unscripted by Doc Edge” programme and experience for all participants, including marketing and sales.
  • Maintain relationships with key partners and stakeholders and develop new industry partnerships.
  • Keep the industry database updated
  • Attend industry-related events as agreed with management
  • Act as the contact person for general inquiries relating to Industry.
  • Write reports as required.
  • Any other duties as reasonably required to fulfil the role and responsibilities.

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the documentary screen industry
  • Strong working knowledge of structures pertaining to documentary funding, sales, distribution, and exhibition in New Zealand and internationally.
  • Proven knowledge and networks in the documentary and cultural sectors worldwide
  • Experience managing large-scale projects with multiple participants and stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both verbal and written
  • Passionate about supporting emerging talent and creating opportunities for people underrepresented within the industry
  • Knowledge of the New Zealand and international documentary screen industry
  • Ability to think outside the box
  • Effective planning skills along with attention to details
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, tight deadlines and to work effectively under pressure
  • Experience working with and managing event volunteers and contractors
  • A high level of self-motivation and enthusiasm
  • Sound practical understanding of modern Workplace Health & Safety Practice
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit is ideal but not essential
