Venue Information

Q Theatre

Located in the centre of Auckland’s performing arts precinct, Q Theatre is the perfect spot to meet for drinks and quick bites, or a full dining experience at Citizen Q restaurant. Q’s Barfoot & Thompson Lounge also hosts the Documentary Edge Festival Information Hub – a popular spot to meet filmmakers and have a chat with the Festival team. 

CITIZEN Q AT Q THEATRE 

Citizen Q is open from 8am on weekdays and 90 minutes prior to the first screening on weekends. Reservations: call (09282 4402, or email bookings@qtheatre.co.nz 

Food and beverages purchased at Q Theatre may be taken inside theatre spaces with due consideration for other audience members. Please note that hot food cannot be taken into the theatre. 

TRAVEL & ACCESSIBILITY 

Please note that Q Theatre does not have a car park. The Civic car park, Greys Avenue Wilson and Grand Millennium parking are within walking distance (approximately 400m). 

Wheelchair spaces and a hearing loop are available; please notify Q staff at the time of booking. There is a pick-up and drop-off bay immediately in front of the Queen Street entrance. All of Q Theatre’s spaces have lift access. 

SCREENINGS 

Screenings at Q Theatre are in Rangatira, located on the Ground Floor, and Loft, on Level 2. Allocated seating applies to all sessions. 

Screenings will start as scheduled, so please allow sufficient time for travel, parking, dining, ticket collection and pre-screening activities. Latecomers will not be permitted entry once a screening has commenced. 

Audio/visual recording and taking photos during screenings are strictly prohibited.

Q’s Box Office is open weekdays 10am to 4pm or until the final session, and weekends and public holidays from 90 minutes prior the first session until the final session.  Ticket prices are inclusive of booking fees; however, a service fee of 3% applies to credit card purchases.  5 & 10 trip passes and Binge Viewing passes can be purchased online and in person at Q Theatre and redeemed for screenings at Q Theatre only. 

AUCKLAND ART GALLERY TOI O TĀMAKI

Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki will host the 2019 Doc Edge Festival in June, including our Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision special presentation.  

The Gallery is open 10am – 5pm every day except Christmas Day. 

MOJO CAFÉ AT AUCKLAND ART GALLERY 

Overlooking Albert Park, Mojo at Auckland Art Gallery is open 8am – 5pm weekdays, 9am – 5pm weekends and public holidays, serving Mojo coffee and fine food. 

Please note that food and beverages cannot be taken into the auditorium. 

TRAVEL & ACCESSIBILITY 

The Gallery’s main entrance is located on Kitchener Street and is wheelchair accessible. 

The Gallery has a weekend discount parking deal with Victoria Street carpark, corner of Kitchener & Victoria Streets.  Get your first hour of parking free, then $2 for each following hour to a maximum of $10.  Please note that your parking ticket needs to be validated at the Gallery Reception.  

SCREENINGS 

The screenings will be in the Gallery’s auditorium on the lower ground level; entry via the Main Gallery Entrance, except for the opening night film. 

Screenings will begin as scheduled, and latecomers may not be permitted entry. 

Audio/visual recording and taking photos during screenings are strictly prohibited.

ELLEN MELVILLE CENTRE

Situated in the heart of Auckland city on the corner of Freyberg Place and High Streets, Ellen Melville Centre is a large, threelevel community and events centre. 

EXHIBITION 

The Pioneer Women’s Hall at Ellen Melville Centre is the home of Doc Edge Exhibition 2019, open to the public on weekdays, free to attend and with no booking required.  Open 9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday.

TRAVEL & ACCESSIBILITY 

Victoria Street carpark on the corner of Victoria and Kitchener Streets is approximately 500m away and Ellen Melville Centre is wheelchair accessible.

THE ROXY

Nestled in the heart of New Zealand’s movie-making capital, Miramar in Wellington, stands the gorgeous art deco theatre and versatile multi-arts venue, The RoxyAt The Roxy you will find two state-of-the-art cinemas, a lively café, cocktails, and the restaurant Coco aThe Roxy.  

TRAVEL & ACCESSIBILITY 

There is unrestricted car parking space on nearby Tahi Street, and further north on Park Road.  There are 30-minute parking spaces directly outside the building. 

Buses 2, 24, 31, 43 and 44 all depart from Courtney Place (CBD) and go directly to The RoxyThe trip takes roughly 25 minutes, but allow time for traffic and delays.  For more information & bus timetables head to www.metlink.org.nz 

Wheelchair spaces and a hearing loop are available; please notify The Roxy staff at the time of booking.  A photo ID is required for the use of hearing aid equipment.  There are two mobility car parks at the front of the building. 

COCO AT THE ROXY

All ticket holders receive 10% off dining at Coco.

Screenings at The Roxy are in Cinema One upstairs, and Cinema Two on the ground level. 

Screenings will start as scheduled, so please allow sufficient time for travel, parking, dining, ticket collection and pre-screening activities. Latecomers will not be permitted entry once a screening has commenced. 

Please turn off all electronic devices prior to a screening. Audio/visual recording and taking photos during screenings are strictly prohibited.

LIGHT HOUSE CUBA

Light House Cuba is an independent Wellington cinema located off the hive of creativity that is Cuba Street. Unwind with great coffee, fresh food, boutique beers and fine wines before or after your films. 

TRAVEL & ACCESSIBILITY 

Located just off Taranaki Street and Abel Smith Street, and within easy walking distance from major bus routes. Closest parking options are the Wilson open car parks on Ghuznee, Cuba and Willis Streets.  

There is limited coupon parking available on Wigan Street,  and the first two hours are free. There is one accessible park outside the cinema.

TE AUAHA

Te Auaha is hosting the Doc Edge Exhibition 2019 and our Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision special presentation. Te Auaha brings together the arts and creative programmes of Whitireia and WelTec and is home to multiple state-of-the art studios and venues. 

EXHIBITION
