A vintage road trip that fuelled a lifetime of wonder.
In 1957, renowned wildlife artist Robert Bateman and spirited biologist Bristol Foster set out on a global expedition in a rugged Land Rover they called “The Grizzly Torque”. Starting in the UK, their travels took them to the far corners of the earth. From the lush rainforests of the Congo to the vibrant landscapes of India, Bob painted the wonders they encounter, while Bristol filmed on his 16mm Bolex camera. Blending original 16mm footage with reflections from later life, the film traces how their journey shaped two remarkable paths: one through art, the other through science. A heartwarming, inspirational love letter to friendship and the adventure of life.
