There are two parts to this work.
The live two hour piece with DJ LisaG
A projection and dance work by Serena Stevenson, drawing on documentary footage from across Asia, Africa, Europe, the Pacific, and Aotearoa. A dancer in white becomes a moving canvas of faces and stories with a DJ set by LisaG. Audiences step onto the dancefloor the light, and the projections find them too.
For the duration of the exhibition
Lumina is a multi-sensory immersive work that transforms documentary storytelling into a living, participatory experience.
Created by filmmaker and documentary artist Serena Stevenson, and featuring orgional music by Sofiane Tib, MissB, and Dave Guilleminot, Lumina brings together visual narratives captured across Asia, Southeast Asia, India, Northeast India, Egypt, Morocco, Uzbekistan, Eastern Europe, the Pacific, and New Zealand.
Blending projection, movement, and sound, the work dissolves the boundary between observer and artwork – inviting audiences to step inside the story.
