In June 2019, Tapu Te Ranga Marae in Wellington City was devastated by fire, just two years after the passing of the man who built it, kaumatua Bruce Stewart.
The film tells the rich history of the marae as told by Bruce Stewart in the last years of his life.
Through him and the voices of his family, we learn about ‘living Māori’ in an extraordinary place, built by a community of gang members, wayward youth, volunteers and the larger whānau who shared in Bruce’s vision.
