NEW MEDIA: STORY EDGE
The future of storytelling is here
Story Edge brings together storytellers, designers, creative technologists and producers from across Aotearoa New Zealand to collaborate on transformative, immersive stories told across interactive digital platforms. Through a series of sandboxes, masterclasses and talks by leading New Zealand and international practitioners, Story Edge covers digital interactive storytelling from VR/AR/mixed reality through installations to interactive website and transmedia projects.
Story Edge World Exhibition 2018
Owen G Glenn Building, University of Auckland
Story Edge World Exhibition 2018 returns to Auckland with a curated collection of the latest in VR/AR and other forms of interactive and experiential storytelling. The public will gain free entry to view these projects and gain an understanding as to the future of storytelling. The projects are suitable for all ages and provide a deeper immersive and interactive experience for audiences that will be both stimulating and satisfying.
Submissions are open to creative practitioners wishing to submit their immersive and interactive projects for consideration for selection to Story Edge World Exhibition 2018. Submit and showcase your interactive digital projects to a new audience. The rule is that there is no rule or standard as to what can be created. What we want is for you to challenge storytelling and take it to the “edge”. We want projects that challenge the rules, defy expectations, and bend the boundaries of interactivity in unexpected ways. In the past, projects have ranged from installations, mobile devices to hardware. Projects can rely on audio, smell, touch, vision, and/or mobility.
There is only one expectation: the audience must be engaged and able to interact with the project.
Doc Edge is seeking submissions of New Media Installations, Outdoor Video, Single Channel Video and Animation, Multimedia Performance, Interactive Installations for Children, Experimental or Interactive Documentary, Augmented Reality, Mobile Device Apps, Art-Gaming, Web-Art and Virtual Reality Environments.
The selected projects will receive a small stipend.
Selected projects will have to be completed by May 1, 2018 and will screen or showcase at the Story Edge World Exhibition, Auckland
