GOOD PITCH PASIFIKA
Good Pitch brings together documentary filmmakers with foundations, NGOs, campaigners, philanthropists, policymakers, brands and media around leading social and environmental issues – to forge coalitions and campaigns that are good for all these partners, good for the films and good for society.
MAKES GOOD FILMS GO FURTHER
Good Pitch connects the world’s best social justice films with new allies and partners.
Documentary NZ Trust (Doc Edge) is proud to lead and host GOOD PITCH PASIFIKA. Drawing on a region that many people are unfamiliar with that stretches from New Zealand across Polynesia, Melanesia and Micronesia to Guam and Hawaii, Doc Edge is committed to bring to the world great stories from filmmakers in the region that will make an impact.
Conceptualized by Doc Society and Sundance Documentary Institute, Good Pitch is not just an ordinary pitching forum where filmmakers ask for financial support and search for distribution avenues. Good Pitch brings together documentary filmmakers with foundations, NGOs, campaigners, philanthropists, policy makers, brands and media around leading social and environmental issues – to forge coalitions and campaigns that are good for all these partners, good for the films and good for society.
Since the first international event in 2008, Good Pitch has spread across the world. From 2014, more than $14 million has been raised in philanthropic grants for the funding of 19 social impact documentaries and their impact campaigns, forging priceless pro bono support and 300+ powerful strategic partnerships between community groups, the corporate sector, NGOs and policy makers.
Doc Edge has partnered with Doc Society to deliver three regional editions of Good Pitch Pasifika from 2020 with the first regional event being held in New Zealand. Good Pitch Pasifika will also provide mentorship and support to filmmakers and their projects including story workshops, pitch workshop, impact workshops and outreach support. In addition, there will be selected Good Pitch Local events across the Pacific to connect local stories with filmmakers and social change organisations. These local events will foster new talent and stories that can take part in the regional Good Pitch Pasifika events.
