The Mute’s House

Israel | 2015 | 32 min | Hebrew,Arabic | Tamar Kay

Abandoned by its Palestinian owners, this deserted building in Hebron is named ‘the Mute’s House’ by Israeli soldiers. Its only occupants are a deaf woman, Sahar, and her charismatic eight-year-old son Yousef.

Their story forms a touching counterpoint to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, told from the eyes of the Yousef in the heart of a city torn apart by hatred and violence.
