Ben-Gurion, Epilogue

Israel, France, Germany | 2016 | 68 min | Hebrew, English | Yariv Mozer

In 1968, 20 years after David Ben-Gurion founded Israel and became its first Prime Minister, he was interviewed at length — the recording lost until recently.

At the time of the interview, Ben-Gurion was 82, and living in the desert.

The separation from his experience of power in both place and time, removed from all political discourse, yields a new perspective on the Zionist enterprise. He shows prophetic insight into much of what has happened since — one wouldn’t be surprised to hear him say, gently, “I told you so”!

This film screens here to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the founding of Israel on 14 May 2018. Ben-Gurion’s clear voice presents a surprising vision for the future of the country.

Filmmaker Yariv Mozer will attend the Festival with the support of the Embassy of Israel
