Docs 4 Schools
Docs4Schools connects school students year 5-13, with the latest documentaries from around the world. Generously supported by the Rei Foundation, the Docs4Schools programme includes free in-theatre documentary screenings for schools in Auckland and Wellington during the DocEdge Festival in May/June each year.
The selected documentary films cover a range of themes and are carefully selected to interest students and support the New Zealand School Curriculum. Classroom resources are developed and provided for each film.
In May 2016, over 3,600 students from Wellington and Auckland attended the inaugural Docs4Schools. Here are some comments from teachers and students.
“This was such an amazing experience. I look forward to repeating it with my Year 13 Media Studies students next year.” – Auckland Teacher
“Thank you to you and the festival organisers for making such a wonderful event available to our students. They loved both of the docs they saw- and we appreciated so much the supporting documentation.” Wellington School Principal
“Thank you so much for your great advice for our documentaries! It was a very enjoyable experience.” Year 13 student

Docs4Schools In-Schools Pilot Programme
To help bring high quality, international documentaries to more students throughout New Zealand, Docs4Schools with the support of The Wallace Foundation, is piloting an in-schools programme during term 1, 2017. Pilot schools will select three films from the 2016 in-theatre Docs4Schools programme, to screen at school via an online link for a limited period. Pilot schools will receive a resource kit for each of their selected films. The trailers and detailed curriculum links for the films are below. Volunteers for the pilot programme have now been selected. The pilot programme will be reviewed at the end of Term 1. For more information, email email@example.com
